abrewer Posted May 30, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 30, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sunday was the first time ever I've actually gotten to be on the grid as the cars line up at Indy for the race. I would rate it as one of the greatest thrills of my lifetime. It was awesome. MP35mmf2ASPH Kodak100UC

harmsr Posted May 31, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 31, 2007 Wow Allan!!!!!!! Your typically great car shots with nice angles as always. I am very happy for you on getting that kind of access. I'm sure it was exciting and enjoyable. Best, Ray

elansprint72 Posted May 31, 2007 Share #4 Posted May 31, 2007 Lucky man! What are the black "blankets" for on the front wings? (Sorry to be asking so many dumb questions ).
abrewer Posted May 31, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted May 31, 2007 Thank you Ray, and Pete, and Azzo. The black leather is for secrecy. The teams in IndyCar are as paranoid as those of F1 about what they are doing with wing angles, wickerbails, mirrors (look at some of my pics and you'll see one team that covers the mirrors so others can't copy the stanchion design). There's some grumbling from certain corners that these Dallara chassis are not very pretty; hoping a new design will come forward for next year or 2009. In a perfect world the IRL would adopt the new Panoz DP01--a flat out gorgeous open-wheel race car. Thanks. Allan
stuny Posted June 4, 2007 Share #6 Posted June 4, 2007 Allan - Yes, a terrific thrill, and the angle and framing on #2 are superb.
