egrossman Posted December 23, 2015 Share #1 Posted December 23, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Since upgrading my camera I've noticed that frequently (although not always) when I switch to M mode and adjust EV that I can no longer trigger the shutter when I press the shutter button. I can exposure and focus lock but then nothing happens. It doesn't matter if I switch camera modes. I've tried taking the battery out, removing the 24-90mm lens and reattaching it (in case it wasn't attached properly) but nothing works. This happens about once a day now. The only thing that solves the problem is resetting the camera back to factory defaults from the menu. The only thing left to try is switching memory cards (I use Sandisk Exterme Pro 64GB). Has anyone else encountered this problem? Thanks. Erik

Erik Hi Erik, I went through the actions you describe and I got the same behavior, but then I noticed the camera was in video mode and I normally run with "Mode Lock" enabled. After I pressed the LV button to get back into Photograph mode, the shutter release worked again. When your camera gets into this state, take a look to see if it is in video mode. If it is, try pressing the LV button. Does that get you back into photograph mode? I use a long press on the LV button to bring up exposure compensation, so I'm thinking that may have something to do with my accidentally getting into video mode. dgktkr
egrossman Posted December 23, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted December 23, 2015 Thanks very much. I'll give it a try. gpwhite Posted December 24, 2015 Share #5 Posted December 24, 2015 Hi Erik, are you using your 75 SX v3 on the SL, ? I have had two odd and unexplained lock-ups with my SL. Point being that I think the firmware is probably not yet fully vetted. 1) The first time I mounted an R lens (using T to M + M to R), the camera froze like a block of ice with an eerie EVF glowing in the middle of it. I did all of the steps you did, and finally had to reset and start all over again. This particular problem, when the body was running 1.0, has not resurfaced, and I am switching between M and R glass all the time. I do not have that SL zoomable cannon weapon. 2) I could not get the body to recognize FW 1.2 on any of three cards, even after trying everything you can imagine. A very helpful Leica NJ rep (Antonio) spent more than 30 minutes on the phone with me as we downloaded and attempted three different Leica "copies" of FW 1.2. Eventually, one worked. I can send you the link, if you think a fresh FW install might help. Antonio is great too.
ramarren Posted December 24, 2015 Share #6 Posted December 24, 2015 I've had zero problems with the SL, either before or after the fw 1.2 upgrade. I put two new (I had them a while but hadn't used them) Sandisk Extreme Pro 64G 95Mbps cards in the day I got it. I've used R, M, and SL lenses. I've made a thousand and some exposures. I downloaded the 1.2 update in one shot, and it installed without any issues. Everything works, no problems.
egrossman Posted December 25, 2015 Author Share #7 Posted December 25, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've used the 75mm Summilux a little on the SL but mostly the 50mm APO Summicron has been glued to the camera when not using the 24-90mm zoom. The colors produced by the 50mm are just so beautiful. My next project will be to use the 75mm more :-). I do love that lens. I suspect it also is a firmware bug. I've thought about reflashing the camera just in case but wasn't sure if the camera would accept a reflash of the same firmware version. Please do send me the link the the firmware Antonio got to work for you. Thanks again, Erik P.S. Here's a shot of Rosie I took not too long ago with the 75mm Summilux... Welcome, dear visitor!
