I'm really excited. I've decided to order an M8.

I ordered a black one, and I picked these two lenses. The new 28mm F2.8 and the 90mm F2.8.

Does any one have an issue with my order - before it get's confirmed? I want to use this for general walk around and people photography - tiimes when I don't want to use my Nikon D2x and lenses (I do a lot of wild life stuff with it)

Cheers

Darren,

I think you've made good choices. I have both lenses and they're excellent, albeit a bit too sharp and contrasty for some applications.

I don't think the 28mm is in stock, but I've ordered it hoping for arrival before the end of June.

I couls switch to the 35mm if it would be too long away, and even the 50mm

Congratulations. I think you will love you new toys/tools.

I will get a new 28/2.8 today - one has been sitting in a shop window for 6 weeks. An advantage of living in this part of the world.

Once you get the M8 you will probably never, or rarely, use the D2X.

I love your choices. I have the same two lenses, but also have a 15mm CV Heliar for very wide applications.

How long can you bear the wait for the 28 Elmarit? They seem to be in great demand, and are hard to come by (I was lucky and got mine practically unused, second-hand, but that was way back in December). Remember, if you opt for a 35mm instead, you'll be getting the equivalent of a 47mm focal length lenses due to the cropping factor of the M8.

Good luck.

I got to test one of the early M8's in November prior to the fixes and the IR Cut Filter and I was thrilled with the results of the images except for the IR and green problem (all the problems I saw in my testing) I've waited in the wings for the past 6 months reading everyones comments here, and I am pleased to join the club.

We produce instructional DVD's on digital cameras and diigital video cameras. We have over 30 titles sold across North America under the brand JumpStartGuides. Because of this, I have owned or had access to every digital SLR since the D100. The D2x has been here for 2 years and I like it very much for wildlife and I use it in my studio for a number of things. I also am quite fond of the new Fuji S5Pro. Both of those will hang around for their wildlife stuff (I need something to attach to the end of my 600mm AFS lens)

Like many, I have been in search of the ultimate city camera, or walk around camera and I thinik that is the Leica for me.

Think about it, it is the only non SLR camera where you can shoot a frame size that is between APS-C and 35mm. Smaller and lighter than a pro quality DSLR and with better glass.

My dealer has the camera in stock, and I think the 90mm is available, but the 28mm - well everyone knows that problem.

I currently really like Lightroom, but I should consider C1
