mdg1371 Posted December 22, 2015 Share #1 Posted December 22, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I had a bit of veiling flare in a shot yesterday with my 50mm APO Summicron-- out of curiosity, I called Leica USA this morning to confirm the lens production date. My lens was produced in October 2014, serial number 42353xx. I commented to to the tech, "Great, long after the flare fix had been in place". His response: "Not necessarily, production was also stopped in 2015 to deal with the continued flare issue." Has anyone else heard of a second stop in production for this lens? jaapv Posted December 22, 2015 Share #2 Posted December 22, 2015 No - but Leica usually builds lenses in batches. I would not make too much of this. Technicians in CS, or even CS in general don't have too much insight in the ins and outs of production, the company is quite compartmentalized. tobey bilek Posted December 25, 2015 Share #4 Posted December 25, 2015 Decades back when I knew the rep and the owner of the largest Leica dealer in the USA, I was told they build a years worth in batches. When they run out, too bad. Wait for next batch. Things will never be the same.
