jim0266 Posted December 19, 2015 Share #1 Posted December 19, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Finally had time to put together a video review and blog post after my week with the M262. The blog post includes more details than are included in the video. Enjoy!
Advertisement Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Hi jim0266, Take a look here New M262 video review and blog post. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jim0266 Posted December 20, 2015 Author Share #2 Posted December 20, 2015 A few RAW images to download at https://www.dropbox.com/sh/rx3wu0kqmpzq9sc/AAC9eU-rAwG4q6o9uuMFCDCQa?dl=0 Photos in pairs are from from the M262 and M-E. The M-E used the 35/2 ASPH, the M262 used the Zeiss 35/2.8 C-Biogon. Single photos are from the M262. Cat photo is with the 50mm Summilux pre-ASPH @ f/2. Building photo (L1000436) taken with 2.8 Summaron. The 28 Elmarit M lens profile worked better on the M-E than any of the 35mm profiles. Because of that I used the profile as well on the M262. microview Posted December 20, 2015 Share #3 Posted December 20, 2015 Video suggests frame-line windows might be improved to show just a single focal length in future firmware upgrade, but this topic has been thrashed out elsewhere and the conclusion was, I believe, that you can't. seabea23 Posted December 21, 2015 Share #6 Posted December 21, 2015 I am looking to get my first Leica soon, many thanks for your overview of the 262.

Indeed, that is technically impossible as the lines are generated mechanically by masks (just like before) that are, in turn, LED illuminated. jim0266 Posted December 21, 2015 Author Share #8 Posted December 21, 2015 Indeed, that is technically impossible as the lines are generated mechanically by masks (just like before) that are, in turn, LED illuminated. I have the 75mm frame lines masked out in my M6. If the 240/262 is the same mechanically as prior M's, but with the an LED supplying light instead of ambient light via the front window, why wouldn't it be possible to have them blanked out manually? platypus Posted December 21, 2015 Share #9 Posted December 21, 2015 Very instructive, thank you.
Steve Ash Posted December 22, 2015 Share #10 Posted December 22, 2015 A very nice review. I would not have thought that there are so many things to talk about with the introduction of this camera. You did a very good job. Steve

Yes, that used to be possible, but it is a permanent change, as the frameline mask in the camera has to be replaced. It is not a thing that can be switched off (or on) in firmware. I do not know whether Leica still offers the service, and cannot recall anybody doing this on a digital M.
