Don't know if anyone has any suggestions.  I have downloaded the instructions for tether and the FW update, but cannot download the specific software.  I click the links and I go to a dead end on the Leica site, with no descriptor on the site (no error message).  Cookies on my Mac are enabled.

I use my camera in "english" mode. So I assume there is only one (international) version of firmware.

But here is an international link if you prefer:  https://us.leica-camera.com/Photography/Leica-SL/Firmware-Update-2.1

Maybe you can download and compare the files - and post the result.

Other software can be downloaded in the Leica Owners Area:  Leica Owners Area

Another user just mentioned that it is working now.

Close but no cigar with Capture One, Leica Image Shuttle 3.4 and the SL.

Workflow: Tether SL to MacBook Pro, turn on SL, launch Capture One Pro (9.2.1), select hot folder, turn on hot folder, trip shutter. Works fine. Image appears in Capture One. Trip shutter a second time. No dice. Image is written to the Mac, but does not appear in Capture one.

Response: close Capture One, relaunch, trip shutter, new image appears in Capture One.

To send yet another image to the Capture One hot folder, close Capture One, then relaunch.

Not good.

I stand corrected. Leica SL/Shuttle/Capture One combo DOES work. My competence in working between sessions and catalogs was the issue.

So much to learn; so little patience.

Had some issues today with a 3m TetherTools cable, LR lost the camera a few times, but was easily solved with a TetherBoost USB 3. If you are having issues with the longer cable, the booster is the answer. Apart from that a whole mornings shooting tethered was a pleasure.

Thanks for that. As soon as my new tethering cable arrives from Lindy (due on Monday but it's coming Chronopost, France, so I will believe it when I see it), I will give that a try.

Hello:  So after initial frustration to get software downloaded, everything is working well using LR.  I'm not running C1Pro 9 (have 8), so I've not tried yet on C1.

My LR tether is working fine without Image Shuttle.  Experimenting with Shuttle, it has the interesting live view feature transferring real-time camera image to my laptop.  Not sure what the benefit would be for using the live view feature except that I can selectively point my Mac's cursor to the screen to reset white balance.  I have noticed that everything is a bit laggy when using LV on the laptop.  I did order the TetherBoost Core Controller and the TetherPro USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Micro-B Right Angle Cable from TetherTools.  The controller might help stabilize my setup when using LV.

Somewhat related, after installing the latest SL FW update, the camera does seem a bit snappier when navigating the controls.  They have not addressed some of the SL's EVF issues discussed on other threads, but one solution at a time I guess.

Hello:  I have yet to upgrade to C1Pro 9, (running 8).  I ran the trial of 9, but as in the past I've found it to be extremely cumbersome when  processing a job containing 900+ images of varying lighting scenarios.  Optimizing everything in C1 would take days, instead of just a few hours using LR. I do a lot of tweaking of images, gradations, brush, selective burning & dodging etc.   I have used C1 for small portrait jobs, and product situations where slamming thru a vast number of images is not an issue.  In your opinion, is C1 image quality worth the extra time versus LR?  Unfortunately, for most of my jobs, the extra time is not billable.  Used to be in the past :(

The $34 TetherBoost when it comes across the pond, increases in price to €111. If I find I need one of these, I will order in the USA and get my daughter to post it to me.

PS I have found this is just French profiteering. It is for sale in the UK for £37.

For anyone who wants a longer tether cable, I can thoroughly recommend the Lindy 3M flat cable (here is the link to Lindy France but they have outlets in other countries - http://www.lindy.fr/Cable-USB-3-0-plat-type-A-Micro-B-noir-3m.htm?websale8=ld0101.ld030103&pi=31472&ci=800502 ). It is very nicely made, is pretty flexible and most importantly, tethers perfectly without any need for a booster.

I have never had a bad cable from Lindy over many years of using them. When I was having problems with HDMI communications on my UK audio/video set up and getting all sorts of weird messages about unsupported connections and HDCP errors when trying to play 1080p films from downloads on my Mac Mini, I changed all my HDMI leads to Gold high speed ones from Lindy and all was cured. I did the same in France last year. I changed my video set up in France from 1080p to UHD/4K this year. I wondered if the Lindy leads would still work but they did with no problems. Their HDMI Gold leads are quite cheap compared with Monster, Van Damme etc.

  • 5 months later...

Just an update on tethering:

I got a quite stable connection in the meantime to Lightroom.

However after a while shooting Lightroom will show a progress bar "image transfering"...that progress bar will never finish and the images shot in that time are lost. There is also no copy on the SD card.

I did try to setup watch folder with Leica Image shuttle. Sadly that did not really work. LIS did not store the images shot in the selected folder, for some reason.

Testing at the office it was working, but not on the job.

It's really getting annyoing. I can not tell customers that a great scene we just shot is not in, because of a technical problems. I shoot scenes with people. Such scenes can not always be 100% reconstructed in feeling/emotion.

If anybody found a workaround, please advice.
