quarth Posted May 29, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 29, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Curious if anyone has any knowledge as to where these are in stock? BHPhotoVideo doesn't even list this size on their site (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/3results/controller/home?O=search&A=search&Q=&ci=131&sb=bs%2Cupper%28ds%29&sq=asc&atl=%2CBrand_Leica). Shootist Posted May 29, 2007 Share #3 Posted May 29, 2007 Check Willoughby's.I saw them there yesterday -bob Did you physically see it in there store? Willoughby's is the worst for listing things on there website as In Stock along with Ships in One Day and they don't have any anywhere. To the OP try Adorama for a B+W IR cut in 55mm. That is where I got mine 2 weeks ago. I really don't think anyone has Leica brand 55mm IR cut as the due date for this size isn't until the beginning of June. Please let me know if you find a Leica 55mm IR cut filter. That is one of the sizes I have ordered from Leica for the purchase of the M8. I will be real P-O'ed if some dealer has them for sale before I get my PROMISED FREE filter.

I just purchased from Willoughby's, so we'll see I suppose. I will take you up on your suggestion to purchase the B+W if this doesn't go through shortly... Also, the chance that a dealer has them for sale prior to you receiving them is pretty high. I've seen numerous threads here indicating the same thing has happened. I finally got Solm's to swap out my original request of an E55 and E46 (which was indefinitely delaying my order, because of the E55) to an E39 and E46, after which my filters arrived a week later (in the US). Shootist Posted May 29, 2007 Share #5 Posted May 29, 2007 Yeah that is the point. NO DEALER should have ANY until Leica fulfills there promise to supply 2 free filter to every Leica M8 buyer prior to the date the filters become available.
rwfreund Posted May 29, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 29, 2007 Bletch, I got slimed with an invisible pre-order again. This is worse than crab-grass. well, adorama claims to have the b+h 486 available -bob When they all come in, I will have to open a filter store
scott kirkpatrick Posted May 29, 2007 Share #7 Posted May 29, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) If the 55 is to go on a 24/2.8 Elmarit or lens which uses that type of lens hood, be careful. I bought the slim style E55 486 filter. Works fine as far as colors and stopping IR contamination goes, but the lens hood no longer seats properly. Apparently the Leica filter has (will have) a smaller outside diameter, to allow the hood to slip over it. Some say that the regular B&W filters also let the hood slide over them if you press hard, but I am not going to buy another filter just to try that. scott

Before I did that I could PUSH the hood on but not all the way and it was really stiff to put on and almost impossible to take off. Hopefully I'll have the Leica 55m in a week or 2 and can then move the B+W over to my 135/2.8.

I received the confirmation email that I had pre-ordered -- nothing to indicate otherwise prior to that. No hassle canceling the order, at least... I do now notice that the initial page displaying the item lists it as "pre-order", but on the details page where you add it to your cart, it blatantly indicates the order is "in stock and available for immediate shipment". Sigh.
