It would be nice if the decision makers at Leica looked in on threads like this and similar internet chatter.

They read these, look here, post #32

It was worth the effort starting that thread. Leica contacted me, and offered exchanging the lens.

That's great to hear! Now it's time to legitimize my interest by buying an S System.  :)  B)

You won't be disappointed ,its a great system..

As an avid M shooter, both film and digital, I may not be the best person to give a non biased opinion here, but I have to say that I whole heartedly believe that people from Leica not only look at these conversations, but that they are now and have been open to interaction with their clients. I was actually able to email Dr. Kaufmann some time back regarding the 30mm TS. I did not expect a response, but i got one within minutes! While Dr. Kaufmann was unable to confirm or deny anything, he promised me that he did not view the S lens lineup as complete, followed by some kind and gracious words.

I don't want to make it seem like I know something that I don't. Let me assure you that I have no clue. But, I have faith in this one. Perhaps it is wishful thinking because I would really like to use the 007 for my work, but regardless, I have set aside the funds for both the camera and the lens and am just waiting for good news.

I'm not far from the Leica Store Los Angeles and was able to handle the S006 and S007 recently, along with the 24, 70 and 100. I didn't bring any cards with me, but I will return with a model friend of mine and take some pics up on their balcony. I have no doubt that the images will meet or exceed my expectations. I do like the way the cameras handle and the balance with each of the lenses I tried. I think I will be very happy with the system the way it currently exists, and while I realize that the various lens adapters extend my range of compatible lenses, one of the main reasons I'm looking to pull the trigger on the S System in the near future (and slightly delay the purchase of a PhaseOne system) is because of the legendary Leica glass, most of which are available with CS. I'm convinced I'm going to fall in love with the 100 and would likely buy into the system for that lens alone (ironically, there is no CS version for me), however, a 350mm APO would be icing on the cake.

I'm very happy to hear that Dr. Kaufmann does not view the S lens lineup as being complete. Though I don't have a need for a 30mm TS, I'd likely get one at some point. I remain very hopeful that the S lens system will continue to grow.

When one looks at the company Leica is - now in a much larger locale then ever before, it is truly amazing with what speed Leica did develop the S system.

Just look at the frequency, new or updated M lenses were brought to market.

Now look at the S lenses and see in what short time these lenses have been brought to market, available to buy in shops worldwide.

I find this quite amazing to be honest.

Ah yes, I am also close to the Los Angeles Leica store and stop in about once a week say hello to everyone. Definitely a place you want to bring memory cards to. The entire staff is so gracious and thoughtful. They have been so generous in letting me put gear to use over there. Mostly, when it comes to the M i know what I want, but if I want totry a new focal length or something like that, they are always happy to let me take a walk with a demo. I love it down there. They invited me to bring a tripod and some of my work gear in the other day to test out the 006 and 007 for my architectural needs. I have to say that I really enjoyed both cameras, and the files were very impressive. Again, my only hang up was not being able to shift, but the demo was enough to convince me that I wanted the camera.

It's great having Leica open up a huge facility like that here in town. Can't even begin to describe how grateful I am for all their help and courteousness over there.

I agree entirely, the staff there is wonderful and extremely helpful. Not only were they very patient with my myriad questions, I didn't feel like I was in a store at all. It felt more like I was at a very high end trade show(room) where I could play with anything I wanted without the crowd. I was also able to play with the SL and the MM with Noctilux and fell in love with the latter. And I really loved the upstairs gallery. I was actually there for research not purchase, but they were so helpful and spent so much time with me that I felt obliged to at least pick up some swag to support the store and brand, lol. Something tells me that it's going to be a very dangerous place for my wallet, lol.

A very dangerous place to be, indeed!
