T lens on SL

HI There

just another word - I agree about the reduced resolution in the EVF - I guess it's because it's only sampling part of the sensor .   . . . . . not convinced it's any slower though - or that there's any lag.

. . . and James - of course you're right - who'd pay #5K for a 10mp APS c body  . . . . but there are times when it's good to shoot with, and if you don't need the resolution . . .

in case you haven't seen them, these were all shot with the 18-56 on the SL

For quick work, when you know that the pics will only be used for the WWW, the use of T lenses is indeed a nice alternative.

I still have a 23mm Summicron T lens, and tried it on the SL.

Of course, I will not rely only on T lenses, the 50APOcron is another world.

On my wall at home are images from a motorbike trip from 10 years ago around Europe, some A3 and some A2 in size. These were all taken with a Nikon D2x (12.4MP) and prime 24mm lens.

No matter how hard I try, I still can't see the pixels no matter how close I look.

I am not sure that I feel a real speed advantage using T lenses on the SL vs using them on a T body.

For those exploring T lenses on the SL now I suggest giving a T body a try, IMO its a much better camera than the internet makes us believe.

Nothing against using the T lenses on the SL though.

I wish they had a little larger image circle to allow a little large crop/more MP.

The size of the T lenses is great.

' I have a good selection of M lenses which I love but was considering a fixed 23 T lens for my new Leica SL when you just wanted to have auto focus available for quick work.

Would be keen on seeing anyone's images if there are any of this lens on the Leica SL .

Thanks in advance.'

I just borrowed the Leica T23mm lens from a friend that owns the Leica T.  I took it to downtown Rochester and took a few pics with it on the Leica SL.  To compare, I shot the same pics with my beloved MATE Tri-Elmar also.  The images were virtually indistinguishable on the computer.

I then printed them on A3 paper and the prints were virtually indistinguishable also.  I have no doubt that it would have made a difference if I was printing at dramatically larger sizes but I never do.  Below is the image I snapped with the Leica T23mm and printed

Why not for something grander? 10MP is plenty of resolution for creating a very fine print and the 23mm/F2 might be a better option (in various circumstances) to using the 24-90/F2.8–4 at 35.
