smg_doug Posted May 27, 2007 Share #1  Posted May 27, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Even though I got left over fingers on the grab side of camera compared to my other DSLRs, the sound of the shutter alone captured me. Without a remote shutter cable, I felt very still clicking the camera on my tri-pod. I improvised and used another arca swiss plate for my tri-pod. I'd rather have the right camera plate though and will likely order RRS's plate next week...  Anyway, my results from day one with the Leica, constructive ways I could improve my results, welcome. Keep in mind, I do some filterization with Singh Ray Blue and Gold on one or two of these. I used a stepup ring to 77mm size. I stuck with aperature priority mode for these...  fotogafer : photos : Smokies by L1 with Leica 14-50mm - powered by SmugMug  You can also get to a couple of portrait like pics I took of my beautiful daughter and her shiny 07 Scion here, other than a quick test shot, of the camera under MISC, these were the first shots with the Leica I took:  fotogafer's photos - powered by SmugMug  Doug

rivi1969 Posted May 27, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted May 27, 2007 Doug, Â I think you images look very very nice, I found the color and tonal range deep and bold, basically the same my Digilux 2 offers but far cleaner here. I am almost falling for one too now the prices are so attractive (because of the L2 release?) and maybe this was the post I needed to read :-)) Please keep us posted in how do you like the feeling of using it. Â Congratulations on your new camera!
smg_doug Posted May 27, 2007 Author Share #3 Â Posted May 27, 2007 Thanks Rivi. I wondered about a release of a new cam, have you heard something official? Â But I gambled that maybe it may not have the same lens, and later, I could pick that cam up too, and have 2 lenses, ,long as they stick with the 4/3rds mount (think that's right) Â Thank you on the pics, I do tend to increase saturation just a little and vibrance in RAW, I like vibrant colors, but it's so difficult to to depend on a monitor, until you print them, hard to know if you got it right, even then there are printer variations. But I always keep my raw files so I can change if necessary later. Â I had to pay a bit more than I wanted to, but still 1209, not to bad for this camera with lens alone worth probably conservatively 800. Thanks again, Doug
rivi1969 Posted May 28, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted May 28, 2007 Thanks for the answer Doug... Â I heard a rumor that an L2 maybe will be released next July but I really don't know, I would pressume will have the same 10MP of the 510 plus the body Image Stabilization perhaps? I guess if that is the case, then we will see a Digilux 4 very soon, but not as a replacement of the 3, just like an additional high-end model to close the gap with the M8. Â Just food for thought... Â kind Regards, R
cjago Posted May 29, 2007 Share #5  Posted May 29, 2007 Thanks Rivi. I wondered about a release of a new cam, have you heard something official?Doug  Back in March, Panasonic were just saying 'later this year'. It sounded like an E510 based cam.  http://www.auspiciousdragon.net/fourthirds/?p=192  If anybody has any newer info, I'd be glad to hear it.

ron110n Posted May 30, 2007 Share #7  Posted May 30, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Very nice images Dough! For the price, I think it has plenty of bang for the buck.  I took mine for a spin last Memorial Day Weekend.  http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/landscape-travel/25701-san-juan-capistrano-1776-mission-l1.html  http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/landscape-travel/25704-san-juan-capitrano-church-yard-l1.html  Cheers -Ron
