I picked up an example of this lens recently and so far I'm very pleased with it.

It feels solidly built and weighs in at 260 grams. In size it is almost the same as the Elmar M except that when retracted the tube of the Heliar does not intrude into the camera body as does that of the Elmar. An advantage perhaps when used on digital Ms? It also uses the same 39mm filter thread as many of the M range of lenses.

A couple of photos comparing the Heliar and the Elmar M.

I have used the collapsable Heliar with my M8 and did not have any problems. One thing: due to the constructure of the lens it is not possible to code the lens because of the place of a screw just where to apply the coding marks.
