That's just stupid. Never mind that the last sentence in the review is incomplete... Leica has never called the SL a CSC ...

LD_50 Posted December 29, 2016 Share #230 Posted December 29, 2016 https://sleeklens.com/leica-sl-typ-601-review/ That was not very helpful in my opinion. The opinions were very generic and not well substantiated. "The tracking performance was also great..." is way off when compared to the best AF tracking available. It's certainly not great or particularly useable. "...rather impressive buffer size of 33 RAW..." 33 image buffer is not impressive in actual use as the camera slows way down and there are alternatives that shoot 100s of frames (Nikon D500, D5 are examples). "...the sensor in question is not a Sony-made one like most of us expected and was actually made by Leica themselves." This is obviously wrong. "...Leica was always famous for trying to keep their modern cameras as retro as possible..." Obviously this ignores the X cameras, the Q, the S system. "It’s still a Leica camera meaning you will get sharp and high quality images..." This is true of every brand's current generation camera with a good lens. The image quality section is very thin. Mediocre on noise, good on color and dynamic range. Etc

Alo Ako Posted February 7, 2017 Share #233 Posted February 7, 2017 He`s right in:"...I am rather disappointed by the durability of the finish...". But I love to see that a camera is still in use rather than behind the glass of a display case .
Joshua Lowe Posted February 7, 2017 Share #234 Posted February 7, 2017 100% agree about the durability of the finish. My SL is barely a month old and already the finish along bottom rear edge of the body has significant wear. I don't carelessly throw my cameras around but I don't baby them, either. ramarren Posted February 7, 2017 Share #235 Posted February 7, 2017 Hmm. Mine is about a year and a quarter in use, has made 10-12K exposures now, and still looks as if I just took it out of the box. I wonder how I'm going to get some lovely 'wear patina' onto it, frankly.

thighslapper Posted February 7, 2017 Share #238 Posted February 7, 2017 presumably she uses her SL like Italians drive and park their cars ...... (in Rome, anyway)
IkarusJohn Posted February 7, 2017 Share #239 Posted February 7, 2017 I'm getting wear on mine, but that is largely because I took it tramping in the rain, and it spent 3 days bumping against my pack. Can't say I mind, particularly as this camera is a keeper.
Joshua Lowe Posted February 8, 2017 Share #240 Posted February 8, 2017 Hmm. Mine is about a year and a quarter in use, has made 10-12K exposures now, and still looks as if I just took it out of the box. I wonder how I'm going to get some lovely 'wear patina' onto it, frankly. I'm not even certain how it happened on my camera. Rubbing against my jacket as it hangs from my side? Maybe but doubtful.. I set it down on a concrete surface a couple of times but I didn't drag it. Still, that seems most likely. As long as the finish is purely cosmetic then I'm not concerned.
