tom0511 Posted May 27, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 27, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) The hood is quit big and mounting/unmounting is not that great IMO- do you guys use the hood or do you just use the lens without hood? Thanks for the feedback. Shot some first shots with the lens, I really like the results and the handling as well as the shorter minimum distance compared to the 90/2.8. I now even think about getting the macro adapter as well. Cheers, Tom
Advertisement Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 Hi tom0511, Take a look here 90macro hood. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lars_bergquist Posted May 27, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 27, 2007 That hood has been available since 1958. It's an excellent hood, that is, if you think a hood is for protecting the lens against stray light, and not just for decoration. Learn to love it. tom0511 Posted May 27, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted May 27, 2007 Mmmhhh, I just thought to get the 90macro as a small lens and the hood kind of doesnt fit into this. Anybody thought of using the small 50/2.8 hood on the 90?

The hood can be reversed on any lens that it's intended for. Can't get much smaller than that. Woody Campbell Posted May 27, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 27, 2007 If you want something small there is the Leica 12549 (silver 12550 in black) which screws in to any 39mm filter thread.

tom0511 Posted May 27, 2007 Author Share #9 Posted May 27, 2007 Thanks guys, I now screwed the hood from the 50/2.8 on the 90 and will see if it works fine. Yes, the hood can be reversed but I cant imagine to reverse a hood every time I switch the lens or take the camera out of my bag. And I still think the hood is nearly as bad as the Frankenfinder. Did you realize that it is not shown on any product-image in any Leica brochure/ on th website? Is it really necessary? The lens is said to be quit flare resistent.
