pete_g Posted May 26, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 26, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everyone. Got an M8 a few days ago and am getting used to it. Pretty impressed so far. It's my first 'proper' digital camera. I hope it doesn't relegate my Hasselblad to a dark cupboard, I like it too much, but I'm aware how the M8 has affected others here.... No problems so far, apart from waiting on a 28mm Elmarit. I'm using the 35mm Summicron from my M6 for now. I think I might put a self adhesive screen protector on the LCD, the kind that are recommended for iPaq's, and just one tiny little niggle..I don't understand why the date format on the info panel is YYYY/MM/DD. I've tried 3 different brands of the self adhering screen protectors and all of them peeled off on one corner or another in a short time. One didn't last 20 minutes. All I can say is good luck with them. Some people find they work OK but that was not the case for me. Good luck with the M8 and happy shooting. Starting dates with DD or MM can, if you lump shots together in single folder, lead to all shots taken on say the 7th ending up together no matter what month or year. Same if you start MM. The secret is to have a very clean and dry LCD when you put it on. Cut the protector a little on one or two sides to make sure that the screen protector is just a tiny bit smaller than the actual screen area (round the corners, too.) I found that if the screen protector is not re-sized a little, it will come right off. I have one on my XTi and M8 and they show no signs of coming off. erl Posted May 27, 2007 Share #9 Posted May 27, 2007 Welcome to the forum, and 'pat' your Blad occassionally and say a few nice things to it. That's what I do with mine now. After a week you will stop worrying about your screen. It's tough, just like the rest of the camera. I've had mine since release and use it as a work tool. I've got two bodies, and the LCD isn't invulnerable, but it's pretty tough. I don't protect mine (but I'm careful not to wear jackets with metal zips).
