sarav Posted October 21, 2015 Share #41 Posted October 21, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I disagree completely. The M9 was a digital camera that wanted to be film. The M is Leica truly embracing digital, with all the features that one takes for granted as part of digital photography. Such as live view and focus peaking. The M is the first digital Leica that one can say is close to perfection and resolved all the issues I had with the M9. I could make use of better high ISO abilities. For stopped down candid style street photography with zone focusing, high iso abilities make it easier to get the shot as you can better maintain a fast shutter and small aperture. I'm born with film, have worked with film and, naturally, I see digital bodies in perspective of film. To me today's M-Leica are film camera that now have entered in digital era. To me the M-digital bodies should remain simple and immediate cameras (like film-M) but with CCD or CMOS sensor and without dozens of functions and buttons everywhere. As regards high-ISO, I don't think I need more than M9 or M-240, with film at night I normally use Trix-X or Hp5+ @400 or @800 ISO with a Noctilux or a summilux and I have no problems. This is the way I work and it shouldn't necessarily be the way for everyone.

I grew up with digital and see the M as a line of compact high quality cameras with an elegant and simple design. The M is everything I want in a camera, basic shutter/aperture controls. A quality LCD with focus peak. A great optical viewfinder. The M line should not be about nostalgia. It should be a modern camera system that is about compactness, simplicity and quality.
