kevinlin1013 Posted October 12, 2015 Share #1 Posted October 12, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I tried to use fujifilm's lens cleaning liquid to clean the googles of my Summicron 1st this morning. But the lens of googles became cloudy abruptly and it was crystal clear yesterday..... Don't konw if the liquid went into the lens or it just that lens separation occurred just at that time. Advertisement Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Hi kevinlin1013, Take a look here The goggles of Summicron 35 1st became cloudy abruptly. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
spydrxx Posted October 12, 2015 Share #2 Posted October 12, 2015 Hopefully you didn't put the fluid directly on the lens (an absolute no-no anytime anywhere)...if you did, that could have caused the problem. Your best bet right now is to have it professionally cleaned and adjusted. In the meantime, if you are so inclined, you might lightly warm it with a hair blow dryer and see if the cendensate disappears.
semi-ambivalent Posted October 12, 2015 Share #3 Posted October 12, 2015 I'll echo spydrxx here but first put some of that lens cleaner on a plain window glass, let it dry and see if it leaves any residue. If not, then drying out the goggles might prove all that is necessary, assuming nothing was dissolved by or carried in through the direct application of the cleaner. Perhaps some time on a warm window sill; transfer of vapor out might take longer than liquid leaking in. And good luck, s-a
jaques Posted October 13, 2015 Share #4 Posted October 13, 2015 I bought an M4 once and when it arrived the box it came in was slightly wet. The camera inside seemed ok- only the VF window was cloudy just like in your photo. I placed the camera in a sealed box with some silica gel and after a few days the window was crystal clear again. If you don't have silica you could try plain rice. I think it is more likely that some fluid got into the lens than it suddenly seperated. Also it doesn't look like seperation to me. I have the same lens so didn't like reading the title of your thread: mine are very clear...
tobey bilek Posted October 15, 2015 Share #5 Posted October 15, 2015 Never put fluid directly on glass, lens or otherwise. Always possibility of it running inside. If there are cemented elements inside, they might delaminate and you have a mayor repair job.
Schrödinger's cat Posted October 15, 2015 Share #6 Posted October 15, 2015 That looks to me rather like the condensation you get taking a lens from an air-conditioned hotel room out to the beach. I think I'd second the idea of just trying to dry it out.
