took my new cv 50 nokton on a trip this weekend, and on about 30% of pics taken with it, i see the "50mm" focal length in the exif data; on the other shots, i do not see any focal length. lens detection is set to enabled w/out ir, and the 50 is on the voigtländer cut-out adapter. does this make sense to anyone, or, has anyone had a similar experience?

thanks,

günter

Sean,

i have a milich adapter on order, your review was convincing! ;)

strange thing about this case is: i never tried to code this adapter/lens, yet the m8 does occasionally identify the correct lens.

best,

günter

My Nokton does the same with the Voigtländer adapter. It's just chance that happens to be the focal length the optical detection sometimes "sees". It could easily be other codes depending on the surface reflectivity and roughness of the adapter and exposed part of the lens mount. It's a pain having to remember to go into the menu and switch lens detection + UV/IR off every time I change to that lens.

As Sean said, the Milich adapter is the sure way of doing the coding reliably. I didn't realise that John had a 50mm version available - it's too late for me to order one for an impending trip, so that'll have to wait 'till later.

Bob.

Volker, this is great! you found out that lenses for the m8 can be finger coded! :)

i failed to see a pattern when it does "see" the correct lens, and when it doesn't. thanks for shedding some light on this irregular behavior.

John, thanks for shipping so quickly!

cheers,

günter
