And On This 6th Anniversary of The M9 Announcement, What We Know

Six years ago today, in New York City, the M9 was announced.  Earlier in September, if memory serves, the teaser invitation arrived with 09/09/09 set as the announcement date of what logic suggested would be the M9, a full-frame successor to the M8.  The camera itself started arriving two weeks later, a miracle given the M8, announced in September 2006, didn't materialize until early November of that year.

We have a thread here that has 40+ pages of speculation about what is coming, but what do we really *know* is coming? There is a belief, borne of pattern recognition, that a new M will be announced soon, though there has been no teaser invitation to an event.  We also *believe* a new system camera is coming, magically combining a Q-like EVF with the ability to take both AF lenses and... Well, we don't really know. Jono seems to be missing -- another teaser -- and Sean Reid has several times lately hinted to subscribers that he is testing more than one "very interesting" new camera. Something will be announced in future weeks, but what, actually?

Since we are all speculating, and champing at the bit to see what's coming, how about a thread in which we succinctly commit, for future comparison to what gets announced, our actual predictions for what will be announced this fall?

Here's mine: there will be a new M announced, and it will be an evolutionary upgrade from the M-240, without a hybrid finder.  The new system camera speculated upon will, like the Loch Ness Monster, recede from view until another season.

Go ahead and submit your prediction, and later we will see who's closest.

I think there will be a black paint version of the M-A announced.

Oh, and I also think there will be a new interchangeable AF camera that is compatible with existing M mount lenses but I am more interested in the former. :)
