Distance Scale/Hyperfocal accuracy

Hi All,

how do you find the distance scale accuracy for hyperfocal focusing? I found mine not very accurate...

I took one picture at f/11 manually focused at infinity. Then took others shot at hyperfocal using the distance scale and aligning the infinity mark on f/11, f/8 and f/4 marks. I could get sharp objects at infinity only with the one with infinity positioned on f/4. With f/8 and f/11 objects at infinity were way out of focus.

Maybe these distance scales are not considering the high resolution of modern sensors?

Thanks everybody for your contribution.

Michele

Yes, quite. The depth of field as indicated on your lens applies to a smallish print when viewed from a reasonable distance. Enlarge the image more, and you will see that practically all of the image is slightly blurred.
