Guest JMF Posted September 20, 2015 Share #41  Posted September 20, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Recently picked up a 28 Elmarit v1 and have tested it on the M240. Posted a few shots here:  http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/186858-the-view-through-older-glass/page-126?do=findComment&comment=2890415  I'm used to the 28 Cron Asph and the 28 Summaron 5.6 and now  am very pleased by the lower contrast and color rendering of this 1964 lens . It only brings up the  35 mm frame but it's ok with me !
Advertisement Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Hi Guest JMF, Take a look here 28mm for the M camera: f/2.8 Elmarit, f/2 Summicron or f/1.4 Summilux?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Herr Barnack Posted September 20, 2015 Author Share #42  Posted September 20, 2015 When you look at the images they produce, both the Elmarit 28 and the Summicron 28 make strong cases for themselves. An extra $2170 USD is starting to look like an awful lot of cash to invest for the extra stop of speed that the 28 Summilux offers. That having been said, I'm well aware that there is more to the 28 Summilux than merely one more EV of light when wide open. The more I look, the more compelling the 28 'cron appears to be. jdlaing Posted September 20, 2015 Share #43 Â Posted September 20, 2015 If you really need that extra stop for repeated use it is worth it. If you don't you can surely manage with the Summicron and adjust for,the 2.0 limitation especially in a 28mm lens.
