billhart Posted February 28, 2016 Share #21 Posted February 28, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) John what if you stack the hoods for the 24 and zoom where the big charger goes and put the lenses in slots by themselves?
Advertisement Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Hi billhart, Take a look here Leica Case S #16010 . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
John McMaster Posted February 28, 2016 Share #22 Posted February 28, 2016 They are both 95mm filtered lenses. Without hood they can fit in 3 of the 5 slots (70mm is too shallow and the 180mm is too narrow) and only one hood fits where the pro charger would live, but it is the same hood for both lenses. However they are nowhere near as firmly held as the lenses it was designed for with their hoods reversed... john
billhart Posted February 29, 2016 Share #23 Posted February 29, 2016 Thanks. I was hoping the size of the 24 and zoom might be enough to hold them more tightly. Thanks again. Bill
John McMaster Posted February 29, 2016 Share #24 Posted February 29, 2016 They are probably better held than they would be in a Pelican case with dividers, just put a bit of padding around them.... john

stephan_w Posted October 11, 2016 Share #30 Posted October 11, 2016 Buy a Pelican case for under 300 bucks I have one, as I have the S-case. This is why I look for a second S-case ;-)
swiss leica fan Posted October 11, 2016 Share #31 Posted October 11, 2016 I have one, as I have the S-case. This is why I look for a second S-case ;-) The S-case is really good. Just got a used one in CH for 250 CHF. It holds my 30, 35, 70, 100, plus an MM that sits in the pro-charger compartment with a lens attached and an M24mm Lux in its leather case that fits neatly into the S180mm slot. Jeff S Posted October 12, 2016 Share #32 Posted October 12, 2016 Apparently the weight is classified information. http://leicastoremiami.com/products/leica-s-case See tech specs... 11.5 lb, 5.3kg Jeff
FlashGordonPhotography Posted October 12, 2016 Share #33 Posted October 12, 2016 If I were checking luggage I could see the point of a case like this, although at 5kg it's 25% of most cheched baggage allowances empty. It would be close to 20kg full. For my uses the Pelican Air cases have been brilliant. 3kg with techpac dividers and very flexible in fitting gear. And significantly cheaper. My Pelican Air 1535 is wonderful for a reasonable S or SL system for may jobs (I have a separate lighting case). Gordon
relms Posted October 19, 2016 Share #34 Posted October 19, 2016 I own the Leica case, purchased recently, and two Pelican 1510 cases, which I bought ten years ago. Build quality is similar, but the precut foam insert for the Leica case is its biggest advantage. The only complaint I have with the Leica case is that the foam is so dense and firm, that getting lenses in and out of their pockets is sometimes difficult. After ten years of use, the plastic wheel on one of the Pelican cases split after being exposed to abnormal heat in the trunk of my car. I contacted Pelican's customer service, told them what had happened, and in a matter of 2-3 days, I had four new replacement wheels delivered to my door free of charge. Needless to say, I am a Pelican evangelist now.
