White box v Black box lenses - are they the same in terms of quality and re-sale price?

I think the white boxes should be slashed to ribbons with a box cutter and then burned.

How dare Leica use anything but the finest black no silver boxes for their magnificent flawless quality controlled lenses?

Go into the "Lens Correction" panel of Lightroom's Develop module, and select the correct lens profile from the drop-down list (if that lens's profile is included).

Annoying the pre-ASPH is not included. Are lens profiles downloadable? I presume it's pretty close in any case.

In 40+ years of owning Leica equipment I have only bought 2 lenses that came with boxes, my 21/2.8 Elmarit-M and, very recently, a 70-210/4-R.  As boxes tend to degrade image quality I tend to prefer my lenses unboxed

Actually the boxes don't matter. The lenses that perform best are those that come out of Solms after they have been lovingly bedded in their packaging with a gentle fondle and a Leica kiss.

The over priced 28 arrives today and tomorrow I'm doing a Leica class on M photography. Should be fun to learn about Lightroom from Leica themselves. Will report back.

I did a Leica (M6) class @ Milton Keynes many moons ago..

The lens arrived this morning. Its actually in rather good condition, I'd say somewhere between 'as new' and 'mint'. The hood however as many marks and was not properly described. Am waiting to hear back from the seller.

In the meantime, my first image with the 28.
