Manolo Laguillo Posted August 23, 2015 Share #1 Posted August 23, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just a short note to tell you about a new way I've found for attaching the Leica S to the tripod's head. It's via the Novoflex L-Bracket. With it it's possible to go quickly from horizontal to vertical without changing the tripod's head position, something every L-Bracket should allow. This Novoflex part has an Arca-Swiss profile, and fits seamlessly in the Castel-Q rail. Together they form a quite small and light panorama rig, for rotating around the nodal point. Besides, this L-Bracket gives a good grip for the left hand. And with it the camera can rest, both horizontally and vertically, on a flat surface without the danger of scratching it... Advertisement Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Hi Manolo Laguillo, Take a look here Novoflex L-bracket on the Leica S . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
johnloumiles Posted August 23, 2015 Share #2 Posted August 23, 2015 That's a handsome piece of design but it seems like the grip portion of the L doesn't have the ability to hold the camera because it's wide open. How does it work?
Dougg Posted August 23, 2015 Share #3 Posted August 23, 2015 Looks like it clamps to the outer dovetail...
Manolo Laguillo Posted August 23, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted August 23, 2015 That 'grip portion' (short arm of the L) goes into the tripod's head, in order to have the camera vertically mounted. Another way of looking at it would be considering the long arm as a camera plate, with this part at 90 degrees for mounting the camera vertically. You can look at the Novoflex page: http://www.novoflex.com/de/produkte/panoramafotografie/panorama-vr-system-iii/
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted August 23, 2015 Share #5 Posted August 23, 2015 I'm using the really right stuff L bracket. It also allows access to all the electronic ports on the S. Looking at the Novoflex bracket it covers the ports on the left hand side of the body I.e. The tethering and shutter release ports
johnloumiles Posted August 23, 2015 Share #6 Posted August 23, 2015 Ahhh of course dovetail clamp stays on the tripod. That does make in infinitely easier.

Manolo Laguillo Posted August 23, 2015 Author Share #8 Posted August 23, 2015 No, the L-Bracket from Novoflex doesn't cover those ports at all, they are accesible. I know about the RRS bracket, but it's not readily available in Spain. Novoflex is easy to find instead. Thank you in any case for the hint. :-)

I ordered mine in the U.S. And it arrived in Malaysia 5 days later

I ordered mine in the U.S. And it arrived in Malaysia 5 days later 'Readiliy available' means for me 'available in a shop where you can go in, test the product, and buy it at once'... :-) But you are right: the RRS plate looks terrific, I like very much that protruding rod, which goes into a hole in the camera's base and avoids rotation. I will order it. Thank you again!
