Advertisement Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Hi Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS, Take a look here Infinity marking on 30mm lens off . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
John McMaster Posted August 14, 2015 Share #2 Posted August 14, 2015 Why worry? That shows the accuracy of the Leica focussing (20m is a long way from infinity even for a 30mm) plus the lenses can 'focus beyond infinity' to allow for thermal expansion.... john
erlingmm Posted August 14, 2015 Share #3 Posted August 14, 2015 This may be temperature dependent. That is why you may have "beyond infinity" on manual focus lenses.
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted August 14, 2015 Share #4 Posted August 14, 2015 Not worried I love my S gear. Just useful when using a 10 stop ND filter to just adjust the focus manually without having to remove the filter

See attachedImageUploadedByTapatalk1439534092.538289.jpg Neil, I think the way SLR lens is design is that they have tolerance. they can focus way pass their infinity marking. I found this out when using Canon and Contax 645 lens on my Alpa gear with digital back. Focus at object more than 3km away on a 80mm lens, I found that I can focus pass infinity and back. I think it is designed like so so that they have tolerate for each offset of sensor to lens focus distance...
