Lomo LC-A Minitar 1 Lens

I agree, fun little lens, similar ergonomics to the Perar pancakes (although the Minitar feels more solid).

But why code it? The purpose of this lens is precisely to produce Lomo-like images, with aberrations, funky colours and vignetting...

...

BTW, it is a cute and tiny lens to mount on a Leica M. The image is very interesting.

Photos taken with this lens and have been published on the Lomo website couldn't impress me.

Instead of this overpriced remake of a Russian lens one should rather prefer a small M39-Summaron 3.5-35 mm or the variant 2.8-35 mm.

That's completely missing the point.

You either 'get' Lomo or you don't. I'm a fan of what they do and the huge amount of interest they keep generating in film photography, especially amongst newbies.

Can anyone suggest a lens coding to be adopted in my M9 when using a Lomo LC-A Minitar  1 lens.

You've got an M9 so just experiment! The obvious code would be for a 28mm 2.8 I'd say but I think Ecar is right, you don't want to correct too much.

Do post some examples.

Of course everyone should waste his money as he pleases.

The presence of Lomo on the last three Photokinas at Cologne became always smaller and more insignificant, which should be seen as a clear sign that even the last photo and film beginners are no longer be willing to be cheated by this overpriced plastic trash.
Ultimately not the craziest advertising concept will convince but only real quality.

I'm surprised Lomo even bother with Photokina.

They don't sell to the typical photography (as it is today) market. I guess it's a case of them being seen to be seen. I worked for a company who spent a small fortune attending trade shows until a previous MD decided that we wouldn't bother. It made zero difference to our new business, we just saved the expense of fees, wages, promotional materials and hotels.

I suppose that Banksy must be a has been as he doesn't show up at the art fairs!

Lomography is meant to be lo-fi. It's not just about photography.

The Summaron (I have the 35/2.8) wins on IQ/size ratio. The Minitar wins on fun/size, for me at least. Horses for courses.

AFAIC, if I only bought stuff based on "real quality" (or perceived as such - but I don't want to start another thread on Leica's QC...), my life would be terribly boring. But maybe that's just me.

"Wasting one's money" or "overpriced" are very relative notions. The vast majority of people would say the same about buying Leica and every single Leica item...

Lomo's marketing model seems to be based on word of mouth and an active management of their users' community. Perhaps they are doing well enough that they don't need a massive advertising presence at a trade fair?

Also, the Minitar is pretty well built. Suggest you take a look at a real sample, not just a website.
