tom0511 Posted August 1, 2015 Share #1 Posted August 1, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would like to start a discussion abuot how different raw converters work for the Leica T and share/hear experience from other users. Here is my experience: The Leica T raw files and jpgs overall seem to be a little less saturated than for example images from the Leica M, Sony, Leica Q and others. Overall I find this to be a very natural look with good tonal graduations (somewhat relativly bright midtones, not as contrasty as many m43 cameras for example) which is a good starting point, dont need to bring up midtones/shaddows as often as I have with some other cameras. However in LR I find the results a little too flat. Of course I can do adjustments in LR, but with C1 it seems the colors and overall look comes closer to my taste without much adjustment (A little more saturated) thats why at the moment I prefer C1 ofer LR for T files. Which raw converter do you guys use, which adjustments do you find necessary in general? Best, Tom

Guest VVJ Posted August 2, 2015 Share #2 Posted August 2, 2015 Tom, I use Iridient Developer consistently for S2, M9 and T. I would contemplate C1 but I know that I cannot use it for the S2, therefore I don't consider it. About my workflow, I should add that I use Iridient purely to produce a TIFF file that I further tweak in PhotoShop. Iridient certainly does not have the features that LR has and it is also not that great for bulk editing but for my workflow it is close to perfect. Best, Joris. gbealnz Posted August 3, 2015 Share #3 Posted August 3, 2015 Nothing worse than posting, asking, and few reply, so while I don't really have a heap to offer, offer I will. Tom, I use LR. Two reasons. Main one, it came with the various Leica models I have accumulated. Second one is that since I have used it for a few years now, I find I like it, and haven't really tried anything else. A short while back Capture One was on special, with a trial offer etc available. I tried it, but only briefy, but soon went back to what I know (well, what I think I know), LightRoom. I tend to do virtually all my daylight/terrestrial photos in LR, whereas my night/astro shots I do almost exclusively in CS6. I might add I am really only scratching the surface of both LR and CS6 in use, I would think that many are in the same boat, many many features in either/both programs which never see use. tom0511 Posted August 3, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted August 3, 2015 Joris, do you use irident because of color or what are your main reasons? By the way there are some S2 profiles for c1 available. I did some more comparisons yesterday between LR and C1 in standard setting and I still find c1 results a little more pleasing, while LR maybe a little more neutral. Maybe I should just stay with LR and work a little more with saturation and contrast settings. I am still blown away by the sharpness of some of the T images. Guest VVJ Posted August 4, 2015 Share #5 Posted August 4, 2015 Tom, I started using Iridient with Fuji X cameras. Especially in the beginning Iridient blew away all other raw converters. Now C1 is pretty decent as well. I continued using it with Leica cameras. I compared Iridient with C1 for the M9 and I liked Iridient better. Also the fact that C1 refuses to support the S2 is very incomprehensible for me. I use Iridient now with the T as well but I have not done any direct comparisons with C1 or any other raw converters. Thanks, Joris.
