Do I miss something because I only use "center focus"?

Hi all,

I played arround with the different focussing options the Q offers.  I
am quite impressed what Leica implemented.  But finally I came back to
plain non-continous "center focus" for everyday use.  What do you
think? What do I miss?

Best whishes

I use center spot focus on all of my AF cameras 99% of the time with the focus/recompose method. I occasionally trust the camera to decide what to focus on and rarer still I shift the spot focus point. I should probably do the latter more often as the focus/recompose approach can cause problems but I've never encountered them enough to change.

Never shifted it either as I am now an ingrained lock focus and recompose guy from years of Leica M use .......

Endless complaints about not having this feature in LV on the Q's older brothers ..... but I personally have little use for it.

Useful probably when tripod mounted or when using the remote app on a phone/tablet though.....

In theory, we miss focus when we recompose.

In 50 years of doing this,   I can not remember missing a photo because of it.

Now to clarify,  it takes too long to move focus point and opportunity is lost.  If we are in a commercial studio situation  and use large aperture where a miss would seem unprofessional,  best you get the focus right.

If the camera has multiple focus points and follows the subject in a dynamic way,  sports guys can love it.

I do landscapes,  portraits at f 8.0, or still life.   I do not know if the outer points even function.

I would like an electronic RF that works at 1.4 and it needs to be user tunable because I refuse to keep sending cameras in for minor adjustments.   If we can not do minor maintenance like remaping a sensor or have readout made a different way,  I refuse to fuss with Leica .  I do not want to be a pro with 3 cameras, one in use, one in repair, one back being checked out.   If they can not up the QC,  I may have to look elsewhere.
