smg_doug Posted May 22, 2007 Share #1  Posted May 22, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I had one ordered, and noted a price reduction on their site before mine shipped from 1157 to 1068!!! Of course, with Amazon you have 30 days for a price adjustment anyway.  Got my price adjusted accordingly before mine shipped, with free shipping in USA, delivered for 1068, just be sure to not fall for the 1045 pricing, as that's a 3rd party outfit, I know nothing about. I'm sticking with Amazon direct myself... YMMV.  Oh, shoot, I just noticed it will basically be a backorder now, as Amazon says order now, delivery soon... in right column here under more buying choices.  Amazon.com: Panasonic DMC-L1 7.5MP Digital SLR Camera with Leica 14-50mm Mega O.I.S. Lens: Camera & Photo  I am not sure how much Adorama, or BH are now, havne't checked. certainly click the banners here for whichever company is represented and look. :-)  Doug
Advertisement Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Hi smg_doug, Take a look here FYI, Amazon reduction on Panny L1!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ron110n Posted May 24, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted May 24, 2007 Dough, Â Just to let you know, The L1 don't come with an SD Card when it gets there at Tennessee. I'm sure you're now tossing and turning in bed for the arrival. Â Best, -Ron
d_lague Posted May 24, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted May 24, 2007 B+H is 1299 as is J+R. I got one from J+R 2 weeks ago for 1199 and that included a 512 card. This was a special weekend sale. I have had good luck dealing with J+R so I have confidence in them. Â We sell things through Amazon. If the camera is not in stock they are probably booking a few orders and then will order some cameras from their supplier. All in all that Amazon price is a real steal. This is a great camera with a great lens for that money.
smg_doug Posted May 25, 2007 Author Share #4 Â Posted May 25, 2007 Unfortunately, Amazon jacked me around. My camera was supposed to ship the 22nd, suddenly, it's showing a ship date of end of June on May 23. I was pretty ticked off. As it said in stock to begin with, at least I thought it did, and I know it said shipping May 22. Â I wound up negotiating JR down, but I still paid considerable more, 1209 plus shipping. CompUSA was 1175, but then I would have to pay tax to them, so that pushes it higher. Some of these fly by night outfits show great prices, but I don't trust them. I bought from J and R with confidence. Arrival Date Friday. I already have 2 2 gig cards, and 2 1 gig cards, so I am ok on memory. Â D
Sandokan Posted May 31, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted May 31, 2007 Consider yourselves lucky in the US - in England it lists for more in Pounds than dollars! So, for the UK price, I can fly to NY, stay in a Manhatten hotel and buy the camera :-)

Does make the Digilux 3 seem very expensive, ludicrously so. B+H are showing it at $2500 and the UK price is $500 more than that and it's not clear what, if anything that buys you over the this $1100 L1. Yes, no, Mibbe?
Edward48 Posted May 31, 2007 Share #8  Posted May 31, 2007 Hello everyone  Here in the UK I recently picked up the L1 at John Lewis online for £899. Still a lot US, but very good over here.  Mike
