Chris101-MM Posted July 17, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 17, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey all! I need some help and info if anyone of you guys know anything about this? So, when i shoot with HC lenses (tested 35, 50 (v1) 80, 50-110 and use the central shutter the S (006) hangs. I can hear the central shutter close and open, but then the camera hangs in such a way that the mem card led is lit up (not flashing) and the camera just sits unresponsive. I cannot turn it off with the power switch, and I've let it sit for approx 2 minutes without any change. The only way to get the camera working again is to remove the battery. When reviewing the memory card there is no data written to it, neither full nor partial data, so it seems the camera hangs before even trying to write to the card. Firmware is the latest and greatest, and it did the exact same thing with the old firmware (2.0.0) that was on the camera when i got it. I would greatly appreciate any help in this matter! Cheers! //Chris

peterv Posted July 17, 2015 Share #2 Posted July 17, 2015 Sorry to hear this, Chris. The only thing I can think of would be to clean the contacts on the camera and adapter. Since you've tried different lenses, I guess we can rule out dirty lens contacts.
pop Posted July 17, 2015 Share #3 Posted July 17, 2015 Do have any lenses at all with which this does not happen? Have you tried another storage card, preferably a freshly formatted one? The camera stalling while accessing the storage card automatically makes the the storage card one of the prime suspect.
peterv Posted July 17, 2015 Share #4 Posted July 17, 2015 Great advise, Philipp. One more thing Chris, did you try taking the adapter off and re-attaching it?
ynp Posted July 17, 2015 Share #5 Posted July 17, 2015 I had a lot of lockings with the HC 50-110, I bought secondhand from a nice German photographer, while I was in Berlin. The problem was cured by cleaning and polishing of the gold contacts of the lens. The same happened several times with the Conrax 645 lenses. I polish the contacts as a sort of a weekly meditation now.
Chris101-MM Posted July 18, 2015 Author Share #6 Posted July 18, 2015 Hey! Great big Thanks for the advice! So, the camera, adapter and lenses are new, so there shouldn't be any dirt on them, but I will try to clean anyhow. No, I have not found any lens that is working. :-( (even went to a local dealer and tried their lenses as well without avail. The adapter is disconnected a lot since I shoot with multiple H, V and S lenses (No CS Leica lenses tho) I generally shoot with two cards in the camera, but I will try one at a time and swap between them. Right now I've been shooting with Sandisk 32gb cards. I do however feel that they should not be the fault as they work with flawlessly when I'm not shooting CS. - and come to think about it, I did try without a mem card and it still hanged. :-/ I'll tell you my findings after a evening polishing! Cheers!
sortvitt Posted July 22, 2015 Share #7 Posted July 22, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Chris, My new H adapter worked fine in normal shutter but caused the S006 to hang in CS mode. There were several similar cases reported 1-2 years ago. Replaced by Leica and now works fine with my HC100.
