Trivette Posted September 17, 2015 Share #61 Posted September 17, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I think that here in the digital age there is too much faith in the possibility of having a single unit that can do everything. Even if it were possible, the user interface could be quite formidable. Why not back off a bit and consider that digital may not be the answer to every inconvenience that characterized the film age? There is nothing wrong with having to carry two (or more) cameras to cover every possible eventuality. You are, after all, merely converting analog data to digital, and the source data has not changed since the film era.
Advertisement Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Hi Trivette, Take a look here Towards a modern replacement Leica X1. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wda Posted September 17, 2015 Author Share #62 Posted September 17, 2015 Using a single camera is a compromise. But a camera like the X1 comes close when photography is not top of the agenda when going outdoors. With a sensor much larger than a smart phone camera, the X1 is highly capable when an unexpected photo opportunity arises. That is how I mostly use it and why it accounts for a high proportion of my 'keepers'. But if it became much larger, like the current X, it simply would stay at home more often than not. Hence my bid for an upgraded same size X1 to extend its usefulness in low light, improve AF speed and give even better image quality.
jaapv Posted September 17, 2015 Share #63 Posted September 17, 2015 There is nothing wrong with having to carry two (or more) cameras to cover every possible eventuality. Except that they might not fit your pocket if you are merely carrying a camera for opportunities when on other business.
