viramati Posted July 10, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 10, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am finding that if I have the camera set to monochrome jpeg and then change the focus setting from say 'single point' to 'tracking' the image reverts to a colour image in live-view on the LCD and EVF. changing to any other focus setting it remains in monochrome. When you review the image it is still in monochrome and the jpeg setting still say monochrome and when imported into Lr6 it is in B&W. Would be great if others can try and replicate this 1. Set camera to monochrome with focus spot set to say single spot 2. Change focus to 'tracking' Does image remain in B&W or is it colour on LCD or EVF? viramati Posted July 11, 2015 Author Share #2 Posted July 11, 2015 I would appreciate it if someone elsewould try to rplicate this so I can tall if it is just my camera doing this. Thanks
dreamer2976 Posted July 11, 2015 Share #3 Posted July 11, 2015 I've just tested with my Leica Q. I experience the same thing. Not sure if Tracking focus requires colour in order to be effective, or as what you said, it's a bug. No such problem with all other focus modes, include Touch and Touch+Release. piran Posted July 11, 2015 Share #4 Posted July 11, 2015 >>Not sure if Tracking focus requires colour in order to be effective, or as what you said, it's a bug. Does this make the subject face tracking algorithm 'colour' sensitive!? Beggars all sorts of questions ...really, really, rather awkward issues:~/
viramati Posted July 11, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted July 11, 2015 Thanks. Would seem strange if it needed the live-view display to be in colour for tracking to be effective as I can't see hoe the jpeg setting should effect it
piran Posted July 11, 2015 Share #6 Posted July 11, 2015 >>it needed the live-view display to be in colour for tracking to be effective Perhaps there are not enough data paths available? So the live-view output suddenly 'gets' the data path content apparently required despite the user selection opting for in-camera B&W? Guessing... no Q yet. Thanks An older post but just in case this issue is still affecting you, I've experimented but can't replicate the symptom you have described. I'm configured for black and white jpg, and have tried S and C mode and also with the Zoom Lock button reconfigured for AFL. I've examined both the EVF and the screen during live view. Maybe you've solved the problem?

lucerne Posted July 29, 2015 Share #9 Posted July 29, 2015 Viramati where do you make that setting? My test included continuous focusing. Is that not correct for tracking?
