Apparent bug with tracking and monochrome

I am finding that if I have the camera set to monochrome jpeg and then change the focus setting from say 'single point' to 'tracking' the image reverts to a colour image in live-view on the LCD and EVF. changing to any other focus setting it remains in monochrome.

When you review the image it is still in monochrome and the jpeg setting still say monochrome and when imported into Lr6 it is in B&W.

Would be great if others can try and replicate this

1. Set camera to monochrome with focus spot set to say single spot

2. Change focus to 'tracking'

Does image remain in B&W or is it colour on LCD or EVF?

Does this make the subject face tracking algorithm 'colour' sensitive!?

Beggars all sorts of questions ...really, really, rather awkward issues:~/

Perhaps there are not enough data paths available?

So the live-view output suddenly 'gets' the data path

content apparently required despite the user selection

opting for in-camera B&W? Guessing... no Q yet.

I would appreciate it if someone elsewould try to rplicate this  so I can tall if it is just my camera doing this. Thanks

An older post but just in case this issue is still affecting you, I've experimented but  can't replicate the symptom you have described.  I'm configured for black and white jpg, and have tried S and C mode and also with the Zoom Lock button reconfigured for AFL.  I've examined both the EVF and the screen during live view.  Maybe you've solved the problem?

You need to set the focusing to 'tracking' for the image to revert to colour
