CheshireCat Posted April 15, 2016 Share #42 Posted April 15, 2016 Leica seem to have deliberately avoided having a sequential shot counter on the M. Or at least, not put one where we could find it. Apart from this arguable choice, it is quite simple to mask the shot counter in an ID generation algorithm like the one I have proposed,

CheshireCat Posted April 15, 2016 Share #44 Posted April 15, 2016 Or use an importing program like ImageIngester, or rename the files in Bridge, etc. Apart from the filename, can these change the image ID in the file ?
Peter Branch Posted April 18, 2016 Author Share #45 Posted April 18, 2016 Since first starting this thread I discovered, somewhere in the settings for Photoshop (?), that there is an option to save cache files in the same folder as the image file. I ticked the box and have not had a single recurrence of the problem. I also cleared the original cache file which was surprisingly large. So far I haven't detected any disadvantages - though no doubt there are some. It took a few moments longer to bring up a thumbnail the first time an old image file was reopened but that is trivial price to pay to be rid of the problem.
