elviskennedy Posted July 4, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 4, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Those of you with access to both a Q and an M -- Could you please see if the Q can read the memory card used in an M? Sony cameras can do this. Nikon cameras cannot. It would be a nice feature to be able to Wi-Fi M images via the Q. Thanks!
Advertisement Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Hi elviskennedy, Take a look here Leica Q read Leica M memory cards?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest jvansmit Posted July 5, 2015 Share #2 Posted July 5, 2015 I loaded a 32GB Sandisk into my Q for reformatting yesterday, and could view photos taken on my M9.
cookedart Posted July 5, 2015 Share #3 Posted July 5, 2015 I can confirm that I can both view M240 files on the q's screen, as well as use the app to transfer files to my phone. To be honest I find an eye fi card simpler but this does work. Keep in mind I do shoot dng+jpeg on the M240 though.

Nice price too for such an easy to implant feature on the M
jaapv Posted July 5, 2015 Share #5 Posted July 5, 2015 Never switch cards between camera models - it is asking for trouble even if it appears to work initially. Reformat before use at the very minimum. I see the WiFi argument, but would not advocate reusing such a card back into the M240 without format. The Ms are picky in that respect, even if the Q may be more stable. Better to use a WiFi card on the M240, it has a dedicated window in the baseplate for the purpose. elviskennedy Posted July 5, 2015 Author Share #6 Posted July 5, 2015 Thanks for the responses! Jaap makes a good point, but it seems that just reading an M card in the Q for transfer purposes should not change any bits on the card (no writing taking place). Then again, Leica and computers can sometimes be a volatile mix.
microview Posted July 5, 2015 Share #7 Posted July 5, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Slightly off-topic but inadvertently I once swapped M cards for X113: no harm done but the small camera just listed the DNG numbers but you could not 'see' the images. (Did not try looking at 113 card in my M240.)
