tomglover Posted July 2, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 2, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) After a few days with the Q I have noticed a strange linear coloured artefact. It resembles a spiders web but it is not. It has happened about three times out of a 1000 shots. Has anyone seen this before? Attached is the bottom corner of the image where it occurs. It doesn't always appear in the same place. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! viramati Posted July 2, 2015 Share #2 Posted July 2, 2015 Strange. Have you tried a different SD card?
tomglover Posted July 2, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted July 2, 2015 Not yet. I've seen comments about the M8/M9 having similar issues and resetting the camera and formatting the card appears to fix the issues in some but not all cases. The card is a SanDisk 32GB Extreme Pro and has never had any problems before with other cameras. This is my first Leica and I was surprised to see this issue. sturmi Posted July 3, 2015 Share #4 Posted July 3, 2015 The card is a SanDisk 32GB Extreme Pro and has never had any problems before with other cameras. Maybe this is the point. When I bought my Leica Q the dealer gave me a new Sandisk Extreme Pro card as a gift and just said: "Never forget: all these cards are extremely prone to get damaged, do not reformat frequently, rather replace it at regular intervals..." And SanDisk cards are now quite inexpensive, even the fast ones...
Rich Niemeyer Posted July 3, 2015 Share #5 Posted July 3, 2015 I agree with sturmi. I also use Fuji X cameras, and rarely reformat the cards. I also replace them about every 12 Months or so. I've also had corruption problems with multiple formatting cards for my 5DII as well. Storage has gotten cheap enough to simply replace occasionally than deal with any problems. Works for me. viramati Posted July 3, 2015 Share #6 Posted July 3, 2015 Well I have spent years reformatting my cards in camera after every download (probably average nearly a format every 2 days) and have never had an issue This has been mostly with Nikon, Leica, Sony and fuji cameras. Eesand Posted July 4, 2015 Share #7 Posted July 4, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) does this happen in both dng and jpg images?
TorstenSp Posted July 4, 2015 Share #8 Posted July 4, 2015 This looks like a line mapping error. I had a similar problem with my M-E at higher ISO. Not a big issue. As much as I know it needs to be fixed in the camera software at Leica Service.
tomglover Posted July 6, 2015 Author Share #9 Posted July 6, 2015 It happens in both DNG and jpeg. Only really happens when the ISO is 1600 or higher and even more so when exposure comp set to underexpose. Referred to Leica dealer who is waiting for replacement.
