Leica Q Strange line artefact - help

Recommended Posts

After a few days with the Q I have noticed a strange linear coloured artefact. It resembles a spiders web but it is not. It has happened about three times out of a 1000 shots.

Has anyone seen this before?

Attached is the bottom corner of the image where it occurs. It doesn't always appear in the same place.

Not yet. I've seen comments about the M8/M9 having similar issues and resetting the camera and formatting the card appears to fix the issues in some but not all cases.

The card is a SanDisk 32GB Extreme Pro and has never had any problems before with other cameras. This is my first Leica and I was surprised to see this issue.

Maybe this is the point. When I bought my Leica Q the dealer gave me a new Sandisk Extreme Pro card as a gift and just said: "Never forget: all these cards are extremely prone to get damaged, do not reformat frequently, rather replace it at regular intervals..."

And SanDisk cards are now quite inexpensive, even the fast ones...

I agree with sturmi.  I also use Fuji X cameras, and rarely reformat the cards.  I also replace them about every 12 Months or so.  I've also had corruption problems with multiple formatting cards for my 5DII as well.  Storage has gotten cheap enough to simply replace occasionally than deal with any problems.  Works for me.

Well  I have spent years reformatting my cards in camera after every download (probably average nearly a format every 2 days)  and have never had an issue This has been mostly with Nikon, Leica, Sony and fuji cameras.
