What do you frequent Q users think of the focussing of the Q?  I'm thinking about speed, accuracy, ease of use...

Do you mostly use MF or AF?

How does the AF compare with DSLR AF performance?

How do you find the MF compares with rangefinder focussing on the M?

Are there any particular quirks or benefits that you've discovered?

Any thoughts very much appreciated. Thank you.

I mostly use single point AF, but keep the menu setting handy and switch between Multi Point and face (although Face detection is the weakest setting). I also regularly switch to MF when the shooting is slower and I can be deliberate with the focus or just want to be assured that Ive nailed it. Its very fast to switch between AF and MF once you get the hang of the position of the switch. The first week it was awkward, but now its very natural and easy to switch back and forth.

I don't have DSLR experience but compared to Sony A7S, Fuji X100S & X-T1, Sony A6000, and Ricoh GR, the AF is noticeably faster though I've noticed that Face Detection sometimes misses, and I've had quite a few people shots that are completely out of focus. This may be a result of stabbing my finger too quickly on the shutter button though. Overall, I'd describe the Q's AF as blindingly fast.

After two fairly intensive weekends of use in light conditions ranging from high contrast sunlight to dimly lit clubs, I really like the manual focus implementation, and my initial skepticism has disappeared. It's so good that I catch myself wondering if the Q might wean me away from rangefinders completely.
