earleygallery Posted June 22, 2015 Share #21 Posted June 22, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Please don't tell my X1 about the new Q... I am worry it might become obsolete. I will never understand the obsolescence argument. My M8 at this very moment is partially obsolete because of sensor vertical lines, not because there has been a thousand camera releases every month for the last 9 years. I think one needs to read "can't bear the thought of not having the latest new thing" for obsolescence.

asiafish Posted June 23, 2015 Share #22 Posted June 23, 2015 I think one needs to read "can't bear the thought of not having the latest new thing" for obsolescence. I'm perfectly happy having the second-latest new thing (X113).
richfx Posted June 23, 2015 Author Share #23 Posted June 23, 2015 Unfortunately, the seller I ordered from didn't have the silver version, although they advertised it as in stock. This is the second time I've ordered and paid for a silver X 113 listed as in stock, only to have the seller try to sell me a black one after taking my money (fortunately, both transactions were promptly refunded). I suspect that Leica didn't anticipate how much the silver one would outsell the black. It is quite sexy. My guess is that the lowest prices for new (and used) can now be found on black X 113s. asiafish Posted June 23, 2015 Share #24 Posted June 23, 2015 Six-months-ago I found used silver X113s were about $150 than used black ones, and the camera had barely come out. I bought the black one because I prefer understated camera gear. Except for my M-E (gray, the only color), all of my Leicas are black chrome.
dkCambridgeshire Posted June 23, 2015 Share #25 Posted June 23, 2015 The 'Q' is the new kid on the block and a very fine camera … but the XV is a far more versatile tool camera … superb results at any aperture throughout its zoom range. How often does anyone need hyper-high ISOs? dunk

asiafish Posted June 24, 2015 Share #27 Posted June 24, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) The Q and XV actually make for a great travel combo. XV and X 113 are even better as they share batteries.
bernie.lcf Posted June 24, 2015 Share #28 Posted June 24, 2015 I second that. Not only do X (113) and XV (107) share the same battery, but also the same grip and protector as well as (though inofficially) the same hood Internally, both share the same sensor. From a user interface point of view, both share the same concept with the aperture wheel on top. The Q is the real miniature M - shares the same concept. Aperture ring on the lens at the front (!), finger thingy for focusing, look through the left side of the camera (although it is an EVF instead of a rangefinder), almost the same full frame 24MP sensor etc. Maybe the whole sharing thing is overrated, but it seems more natural to match similar characteristics (sensor size for example). f4 is going to look the same between an X-Vario at 35mm and the X (113) just my two cents
kknox55@gmail.com Posted August 11, 2015 Share #29 Posted August 11, 2015 I just picked up a 2 month old XV with hood, 1/2 for a $1000.00 at a Leica Dealer. Its as new. I also have an X-113, love the camera took it on vacation cruise with a Fuji XT 1 and M6. My best photos were with the X113 with way less hassle. I jumped at the chance to have an XV to pack along with the X-113. Might be time to sell some of the film cameras.

The X Typ 113 uses the viewfinder of the T. Do you use a viewfinder with the X Typ 113. I was thinking of getting an optical 35 mm viewfinder instead of the rather expensive electronic viewfinder. Thanks Best
gbealnz Posted August 11, 2015 Share #31 Posted August 11, 2015 Can't really answer your question, but I have both the EVF2 for the X-Vario, and the Visoflex for the T. Both are excellent, with the Visoflex being better. But as many have said, the EVF2 is more than adequate for what it does or what is required. I aso have the little optical finder for the X1, it is very nice, quite accurate, and a great addition to a wonderful pcket camera. Maybe see if you can find one of them. Thanks Best I use the EVF2 on the X Vario and the Viso on the X113. Both are great, the Viso is better. More than image quality, the thing about the Viso that I like most is the diopter adjustment which is just a bit stiffer and tends to stay in position. That, and the click stops make it easy to reset by feel if it does get nudged. Honestly I think the EVF (either model) makes the respective camera far better. EVF2 on M ( when equiped with 28/Elmarit) and Viso on X type 113. Viso is better, no doubt, and also must have for X. EVF2 though, is only helpfull for me, when exact boundaries with wide are of quick importance.
kknox55@gmail.com Posted August 12, 2015 Share #34 Posted August 12, 2015 I use an Leitz optical 35 mm viewfinder in chrome, looks and works perfect on the X-113. I set the foucus on face detect. When it beeps hit the button.

When it beeps hit the button. Thanks, I did some research on the internet for a silver 35 mm viewfinder that would match with the silver X 113, and ended buying a new silver CV 35 mm viewfinder. Think these are now discontinued. Really nice viewfinder, full metal and clear view. Now I have to experiment with the autofocus settings.
