dennersten Posted June 9, 2015 Share #1 Posted June 9, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am going to the World Scout Jamboree in Japan this summer. There will be a lot of photo work but i need also to make some interviews. It will be on tripod so thats easy enough But could somebody please give me a recommendation of a microphone which is not wind sensitive and useful for interviews. I have the Leica Microphone, is that a standard contact?

John Ricard Posted June 10, 2015 Share #2 Posted June 10, 2015 I shoot quite a bit of video on the M240. I strongly recommend you record sound separately. The best way to do it is to buy a Tascam recorder that has XLR input and buy a lav mic to pin onto your subjects. Alternately, you can buy a $150 Tascam DR-22WL and point it at the subjects while they are talking. To sync the sound, use a program called "Dual Eyes". A final option is to use the Leica mic adaptor and plug a Rode mic into that. I do that quite often. You have to get a flash bracket to hold the mic though, since you'll use your hot shoe with the mic adaptor. That method works and it will save you the hassle of having to sync the sound files later. Much of this video was shot with the M240 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKwYDXT_nSE
RossVisuals Posted June 10, 2015 Share #3 Posted June 10, 2015 For the wind issue you mentioned, used a "deadcat" or Softie (fur over the microphone). If you're using lavs, Rycote overcovers work pretty well.
TDR Posted June 12, 2015 Share #4 Posted June 12, 2015 Nice video, sound and editing. How do you focus so quickly when you pan to a second subject? Tim
