phovsho Posted May 19, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted May 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Wondering what lense folks recommend for the L1, beyond the 14-50 which comes with the body. I was thinking perhaps the 50/1.4, but is there (plans for?) a fast and wider lense, say 14/2.0? Would be nice of if their was a Wate equivalent in terms of wide angle zoom. Â My wife woould only be attracted to smallish lenses, though I understand a 1.4 or 2 is largish almost by definition. Â M

bill Posted May 19, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted May 19, 2007 I'd go for a lens myself... Â Regards, Â Bill
phovsho Posted May 19, 2007 Author Share #3 Â Posted May 19, 2007 Lens/lenses - for some reason I always struggle with such a little word - form of Dyslexia. Cheers M
spylaw4 Posted May 19, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted May 19, 2007 The 25/1.4 'lux as far as I can see shows promise even though it is quite a large lens. There have been numerous recommendations here for the Oly 11-22 and 7-14 depending on the depth of your pocket. "Legacy" lenses wih adapters can provide plent of options. MJLogan Posted May 19, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted May 19, 2007 I just got the 25/1.4 yesterday, and am quite happy based on the test shots I made around the house. It's definitely not small (or light--it weighs more than the 14-50 kit lens!) but having AF makes accurate shallow focus a lot easier than trying to focus my old, much smaller and equally-fast OM lenses manually through a 4/3 viewfinder. Â I'm going to try to stick with the kit lens and the 25/1.4 for awhile, and see if I feel the need for anything else.

I'm looking for one and they appear to only be available by web-order from Japan. B and H has said out of stock for some time now.

B and H has said out of stock for some time now. Â B&H had stock for about 24 hours early this week. As soon as I ordered mine, I posted that they were in stock (there's a thread about the 25/1.4 http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/digital-forum/24203-d3-25mm-lux.html) and another forum member also ordered one. Soon after that, the website said "out of stock" again.
el fotografo Posted May 20, 2007 Share #9 Â Posted May 20, 2007 I'm also thinking about the zuiko 11-22, although the f1.4 speed of the 25mm is tempting. Its also twice the price, though.
