Leica Typ 113 - lens hood?

pbizarro,

I had the same problem with the X1. There is available a kind of tube (probably KIWI) which you can screw on the body. It is also a fine protection then for the lens. This tube has a mount where you can add filters or magnifiying lens from the ELPRO series etc. You can also add a sun hood. May this information help to find a solution for your problem.

The hood made for the X Vario is a perfect fit, but is made for the wider angle lens for that camera.  Any screw in hood with 43mm threads will work, so long as it is made for a 35mm or wider lens.

i don't use a hood with my X and find that the lens just refuses the flare in most situations.

But flare is not the only potential problem. Fingers and smears or worse can be deflected by a good lens hood. Given a choice, I would always use one.

Then just get the one for the X Vario, it works perfectly and looks great.  A little pricey, but very nice.

I already have one, for my X Vario. Not sure I need a non-compact fixed lens X camera.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up buying a X Vario hood, flea-bay version, also metal, but a lot cheaper.

I don't see the Typ 113 as "compact camera" (it's about the same size as my Sony A7II, so...), so no problem with adding the lens hood.

I see it as a modern M6 with 35 Cron permanently attached.

Is it possible to use a lens hood on the lens? I don't see one offered by Leica in the list of accessories. Perhaps some third party one?

Thanks and regards

As Asiafish said, the X Vario hood works perfectly fine. I personally like to use a hood for protection of the front element and just leave the lens cap at home.

There are third party alternatives. I have a JJC one that works well. Cost like $20.

I haven't been here for a while but was an X1 user just after that camera was introduced.

The Leica X that I just picked up came with a 43mm filter.  Trying to understand this without having the hood to work with, will my 43mm thrad filter then screw in to the 43mm lenshood? If that is the case, I might just go for the JJC hood.

Thank you in advance,

David
