Battery question

Hey everyone,

I just got my new M-P 240 and I'm having an interesting problem. As soon as I got it, I left the battery charging for almost a whole day. I inserted the battery inside the camera and checked the level: 75%. Hm. Weird, it might need calibration, I thought.

I kept taking pictures until it gave me the "Battery level low" message. I left it charging for a whole day again, checked the level inside the camera: 75%.

Do I have a faulty battery? Is this normal?

Thanks,

Eduardo.

Definitely not normal.  I bought 2 used batteries along with the one's that came with my M240's and they all register 100% on a full charge.

You also might try your battery in another camera and vice versa to be sure it's the battery, not your camera's battery meter.

When I bought my M, I also bought a spare battery. One battery charged to 100% on the first charge. The other battery would only charge to 90% the first couple of times I charged it. I read that the first few charges should be done after the battery is completely depleted. I did that and the battery started charging to 100%.

I would try running the battery down to close to empty and then recharging.  Sometimes this resets the battery.  Turn off all the power savers in the camera and let it sit for a few hours and then pop the battery into the charger.

Thank you! This solved the "problem". :-)
