Focus aid button

Recommended Posts

The button turns the focus assist feature on and off.

In order to see or use focus assist, you must use the camera in LV (live view) mode, that is, you focus using the display on the back of the camera or the EVF (electronic view finder).

When focus assist is turned on, focus peaking is activated: the edges of the parts of the subject which are in focus are highlighted. It depends on the subject, the available light, the focal length and the chosen aperture whether it's useful or not.

When it is turned on, you can magnifiy the image on the display or in the  EVF by a factor of 5 or 10 by turning the thumbwheel.

You can also set your camera to automatically turn on focus assist each time you focus the lens.
