rob_x2004 Posted May 19, 2007 Share #22 Posted May 19, 2007 Hang on, is that just a fold down top secured by a sigle plastic clip? Sorry it isnt clear to me, it looks as though there is no zip round the top and there are two holes in the end. Please tell me there is more? .... Welcome, dear visitor! Guest guy_mancuso Posted May 20, 2007 Share #23 Posted May 20, 2007 That's it , just like a messenger bag. you want zippers than the Walker Evans or Image Smith. I should add though gear sits down in the red padded area and sometimes i will lay a Metz 54 across so there is some depth there
rob_x2004 Posted May 20, 2007 Share #24 Posted May 20, 2007 Or spend fifteen bucks at the local cash and carry if all you want is a bag to carry cameras. So what makes it great bag if it doesnt keep the dust and the weather out and isnt much good as a traveller if it cant take knocks without spilling what, fifteen grands worth of kit over the pavement? Hotel room to cab rank providing the doorman has a brolly for you? Horses for courses I guess. Great wardrobe bag. Thanks.
Guest guy_mancuso Posted May 20, 2007 Share #25 Posted May 20, 2007 Depends on what your needing. I have three bags and all serve a different need and security . Women have shoes , Men have bags. You just have to have more than one in the closet. LOL

Jager Posted May 20, 2007 Share #30 Posted May 20, 2007 The 7200 (the model I have) doesn't even have the single clip - just a couple small strips of velcro to hold the top down. And that's how I like it. When I first got my M8 I decided I wanted a small day bag for those occasions where I'm deliberately traveling light. I have a bunch of other bags - mostly Domke's - for when I want to carry more. First I bought the Domke F-5XB. That was the right size. But it had both a zipper across the top and two very large velcro patches which held the top flap down. I was always worrying about scratching my gear on the zipper; and the velcro patches were way too strong - and loud. The 7200 (the 7100 would be similar) makes getting to your gear quick and quiet. It's a bag for shooting shooting from, in other words; not one for fretting about whether it provides maximum protection. Jeff

Jeff ACAM 7200 is not available anymore isn't it in Artisan & Artist* Bags Where can I get it then? I would love to get the smaller too. Guest Olof Posted May 20, 2007 Share #32 Posted May 20, 2007 There are a variety of good, small ball heads. I use a Manfretto 482 together with the smallest Kirk quick release clamp - the clamp and the small plate on the camera are quicker to use than screwing the head into the camera base plate. Looks like this: Which type of Kirk quick release clamp do you use ?
carstenw Posted May 20, 2007 Author Share #33 Posted May 20, 2007 The 7100 also has just two velcro strips and a plastic clip. That is how I want it. It isn't going to cut it for the trip to Namibia, but for walking around town it is perfect. In fact, I don't use the plastic clip to hold the flap down, but rather the inside clip to pull the bag tight.

Jerry Jerry, take a look at the link I posted earlier in this thread. You have to order it from Japan, I believe.
Jager Posted May 20, 2007 Share #35 Posted May 20, 2007 Photo Village has the 7200... or at least they did a couple months ago. Jeff
Cindy Flood Posted May 20, 2007 Share #36 Posted May 20, 2007 I use the clip to hold the top tight like Carsten does. My velcro really holds the flap down. I've used mine a lot for about 4 months and haven't had anything fall out. It is really a good design and much more secure than it looks.
losta Posted May 21, 2007 Share #37 Posted May 21, 2007 I saw the bag at photo village a few months ago and decided to think about it. When I went back they didn't have it anymore and said they didn't expect anymore either. I guess they would have to be ordered from Japan now. guidomo Posted May 21, 2007 Share #38 Posted May 21, 2007 Thanks everyone for the comments about the ACAM-7100. I've had my eyes on it for a while but it took me a long time to find it (sold out in Hong Kong). It is now on its way to me and after reading your positive reviews I cannot wait. guidomo Posted May 21, 2007 Share #39 Posted May 21, 2007 As for ball heads I can highly recommend this Leitz one. Very sturdy and compact. Welcome, dear visitor! plasticman Posted May 21, 2007 Share #40 Posted May 21, 2007 Hi Carsten I just received the latest 'update' to the GCAM 7200 from Photo Village - no leather flap but just a canvas one instead - which really doesn't bother me at all, as my main intention is to look like i have a few gym rags and a book in there. Given your wishlist, i'd say maybe the dimensions of the 7200 are more in line with what you were after - the only problem maybe being that it could be mistaken for a laptop bag. Otherwise i'm pretty darn impressed with the build quality of these A&A bags. PS: there's a 'spare' catch at the bottom of the inside flap - i assume this is somehow for attaching some sort of additional 'security' strap, but i'm not certain. Anyone know? edit: and i ought to add, i don't mean the clips that secure together the top of the inside bag; there's also an extra clip actually on the inside of the flap, very slightly protruding from the bottom. Incidentally, my 7200 doesn't have the netted inner sleeve - which i'm very envious about...
