wlaidlaw Posted June 13, 2015 Share #22  Posted June 13, 2015 The top end classic car market has gone potty over the last few years. For the super rich, it represents far better return than putting your cash into the bank at 1% return. For example a Ferrari 250 GTO which would have been worth around $7M 10 years ago is now worth $50M to $55M. The problem is that this has lead to faking, where for example a Porsche 356 Cabriolet D, worth around €125,000 is faked up with false chassis/engine numbers and documentation to a 356 Carrera 2 Cabriolet worth around €1.1M for a cost of around €100,000. Porsche last year published all the 356 Carrera original chassis and engine numbers which was gold dust for the fakers. Ferrari now have a provenance certification organisation called "Classiche" but it is run very much as a profit centre and getting a Classiche Provenance does not come cheap, with minimum about €50,000 if no work has to be done to the car, which in reality never happens. I charge a lot less than this  Wilson
