MarkThailand Posted June 6, 2015 Share #61 Posted June 6, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thai grey market for the M246 is 249,000 THB or 6,550 Euros. Both grey and official Thai Leica are sold in the same Leica Authorized Dealer store with the official Leica costing 285,000 THB or 7,500 Euros. Both get two year warranty from Leica in Germany. The store tells me that the only difference is that the official Thailand Leica is shipped back to Wetzler for warranty service free of charge by the official Thailand Leica distributor but I would have to ship the grey Leica back on my own charge. This would be the same situation if I bought the Leica from an authorized dealer anywhere else in the world other than Thailand and needed warranty work. I have used Leicas over twenty years and have used two M6's, an M240, and an MP-240, and 12 lenses without ever needing warranty work (knock on wood). Has Leica quality gone down so much that we have to worry about warranty repair issues? Anyway, what would you guys recommend? Official Thailand Leica M246 for 7,500 Eurps or grey Leica M246 for 6,550 Euros? With Regards, Mark
Advertisement Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Hi MarkThailand, Take a look here M246 shipping. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
suey11 Posted June 6, 2015 Share #62 Posted June 6, 2015 If warranty is the same I think if given the option I'd save the 1000 euros. I mean if you unfortunately had any issues how much would it cost to ship.

Pjay Posted June 16, 2015 Share #66 Posted June 16, 2015 Bit of passing the buck going on here in Oz - when I paid my deposit I was told 3 weeks to delivery, since revised to 6 weeks. Local Leica boutique claims to receive conflicting advice from Leica Australia, who in turn claim to receive no advice from the factory. So, it's a guessing game... MarkThailand Posted June 16, 2015 Share #68 Posted June 16, 2015 I just got an email from the Leica Shop in Vienna that my M246 has come in. I think I will use my 50 AA for the first test shots. Then, I guess it is time to acquire some older Leica glass. Mark
