Should Leica make an 2,0/ 135 APO, because it's possible on the Leica M 240/246 now?

I think Leica should rethink also the MFD of their lenses too. The 70cm RF limitation doesn't make sense anymore.

As for a 2/135, maybe it would be too ambitious due to size as mentioned by others. Though Leica knows how to make large lenses smaller ;) A 2.8 version would be small enough though and would give a noticeably shallower DOF.

If Leica does start making lenses with closer minimum focus than 0.7m, they could have a mode that automatically turns on Live View or EVF when the rangefinder loses coupling, or if a non-RF lens is mounted by an adapter. They could allow the user to turn this feature on or off from the menu.

What I am going to do: get an Olympus OM 75-150 and try that out. The lenses cost next to nothing. What I recall from the past is that the optical quality is excellent with the exception of strong pincushion distortion, which is not a problem nowadays. And it weighs rather nothing too...

For the Olympus, I'd recommend their 75/1.8. It is close to the 135 focal length equivalent (actually 150, given the crop factor)  and it is a fantastic lens, the best in the micro 4/3 system, with image quality in the same league as Leica lenses, in my view.

Other than that, the Apo-Telyt 3.4/135 is a wonderful lens, with biting sharpness and very high contrast but a bit hit and miss in use, even with the 1.4x magnifier that I use (I find the EVF not so helpful for focusing this lens). I would not be interested in an Apo 2/135 for all the reasons stated above, namely size, weight and even less reliable focusing with a RF.
