Walter eyepiece on M240

The Walter eyepiece evolved to a screw-in design to better adapt to the M240 viewfinder, which has a thinner rubberized outer ring than the M8/9 did. Although my press-on style Walter eyepiece fits the M240, it frequently dislodges from the camera jostling in my bag (admittedly, I over-stuff too small of a b-Laika bag). The screw-in model solves that problem once and for all. The correction lens assembly also rotates more freely than it did on my press-on eyepiece, which is critical to the eyepiece function.

I wanted to pass the experience along because I find the eyepiece, which corrects for astigmatism in your shooting eye, to be indispensable given that I shoot at mostly full aperture. The dislodging problem on the M240 bugged me...  a lot... and I was really pleased that Walter managed to solve the issue. His material finishing is improved too  :)  I think my new Walter eyepiece cost me a bit more $ than my press-on model, but a far better value than some of the recent Leica "upgrades."

Thankfully I have above 20/20 in my shooting eye and don't require this, the only astigmatism I have is in my left eye! However does Walter have such an adaptor to increase the magnification of the viewfinder?

My impression is that Walter will make you any lens you want to go in his housing. I am not clear on what benefit the Walter piece would have over the standard Leica magnifiers that come with a fancy leather satchel that snaps perfectly onto the camera strap. The innovation of the Walter eyepiece is that it uses an eccentrically weighted housing to align an astigmatic correction for the shooting eye.

In any case, check him out on line!

Glad to know this is improved. I just ordered one. I find that I MUST shoot with my glasses if I have any hope of getting a sharp image except by chance...lol. And then I hate that i can't see the framelines well.

This product should be a godsend.
