Leicamateur Posted May 18, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just experimented with my Digilux 3 and IR filter. It's quite difficult as the Digilux 3 is absolutely not sensitive to IR light, so everything is a bit of guessing work and needed further editing in PS. The third picture doesn't really fit into "architecture" but it's a series so I didn't want to break it up. Thanks for looking. Advertisement Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Hi Leicamateur, Take a look here Ghost temple (5 photos). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted May 18, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 18, 2007 Marc - A lovely series with excellent angles, framing, lucious tones (especially the last) and details. I much prefer the tone of the last three vs the first two.
Leicamateur Posted May 19, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted May 19, 2007 Stuart, thanks for your nice comment. As I didn't see a thing through the viewfinder because of the IR filter I used my Voigtlander 15mm viewfinder... it was a bit hard to guess what actually would be on the frame but after a few tries you get the feeling for it. I think IR photography is my new favourite subject so you can be sure to see more in future.

macos Posted May 19, 2007 Share #5 Posted May 19, 2007 The last 2 have a somehow ghost-whisperer mood which is very interesting. I guess there could be many unusual pictures using this technique, so please keep it up! BR Marcus
azzo Posted May 19, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 19, 2007 Marc, A lovely series indeed. Nice work with the IR and in PS. Azzo
Leicamateur Posted May 19, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted May 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for all your encouragement! I will definitely continue to shoot more photos with IR filter. But the weather forecast tells me I won't make any photos until next Thursday:mad:
samwells Posted May 21, 2007 Share #8 Posted May 21, 2007 Marc - fascinating series. I particularly like the ghostly figures in the last one, combines with the IR tones on the trees. Looking forward to more... cheers: Sam
Leicamateur Posted May 22, 2007 Author Share #9 Posted May 22, 2007 Sam, thanks for your comment. I was lucky that some schoolgirls were visiting the temple, they were dressed in white and making good "ghosts". Anyway I will be in London in June and I have the feeling London is a great city for some groovy IR photography. Looking forward to it.
Leicamateur Posted May 22, 2007 Author Share #10 Posted May 22, 2007 Here some more photos from the series. I also tried to use some other tones for the last photo but I'm not so sure about it. macos Posted May 22, 2007 Share #11 Posted May 22, 2007 Marc, nice new shots indeed I think the real gain in the technique are the long exposure times and therefore the contrast between static objects and vanishing moving elements, mixed with the surreal colors. One of both are the ghosts. I guess you opened the door to a bunch of a series, IR street if you like BR Marcus

One of both are the ghosts. I guess you opened the door to a bunch of a series, IR street if you like BR Marcus Indeed the long exposure times give some interesting results. I have to do more shots with people in it the next time, I'm just waiting for the weather to get better
wda Posted May 22, 2007 Share #13 Posted May 22, 2007 I have never tried infra red photography so I don't know quite what to expect. Some landscapes take on a surreal appearance with high contrast, but yours seem to have compromised at the half-way point leaving a shade more realism to the scenes. A very interesting series. Thank you. David
