Magnus_L_Andersson Posted May 7, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 7, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) My MM was supposed to be serviced in February a third time for sensor problems, nowadays known as corrosion, but I'm still queuing. Leica informed me today that they want €4200 to replace the camera with an MM 246. To me this sounds like they don't want existing owners to relieve them from the sensor problem when asking. Have you received similar offers? /Magnus
Advertisement Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Hi Magnus_L_Andersson, Take a look here Cost of Leica MM replacement. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
schmolinski Posted May 7, 2015 Share #2 Posted May 7, 2015 Magnus, as long as they have enough sensors its replacement is less expensive than exchanging with a new model. That's my guess.
Lenshacker Posted May 7, 2015 Share #3 Posted May 7, 2015 It means they expect to sell enough M246 cameras at full price as it comes to market. 6 months from now, if there is no permanent solution, supply and demand will catch up and the price will drop. If a permanent solution in the form of a new CCD sensor is introduced- then I expect the trade-in price to remain high. Personal speculation- I think the replacement sensor for the camera is coming soon.
